Saturday, November 4, 2006, Dharamsala. (Day 10 and the last day of the workshops)

Have you noted that the conference and the workshops went on 7 days a week? It is the normal workweek in India! What is even more, the personnel of the guesthouse start at 07:00 h and continue to work till 21:30 h!

On the last day we check the lessons learned by laying out a link of about 1,2 km long. My group occupies the coffeeshop on the way to the temple. The other group is at TCV on the way up to the temple. They are visible, just above the white pole in the middle of the picture.

We receive quite a lot of interest from the locals

The picture at the left-hand side shows how we should had to work: with a cantenna directed towards the TCV group. However, we are close enough by to receive the signal without amplifying antenna.

The right-hand side picture is a plot from my Laptop, it has no antenna connector. The experimental link has the SSID tcv_ssid_nov4. Right in the same channel, I also receive the regular signal from AirJaldi with the SSID AirJaldi-Free-TCVHIGH-11G. Even though they use the same channel, Wi-Fi is capable to use both links quasi simultaneously. While the other group is using the experimental link for file sharing, I can download the Dilbert joke of today over the regular link!.

Sebastian Büttrich, the leader and one of the trainers of the Workhops verifies the results on my screen to see that I can use the links without any antenna gain. On the foreground Kafui Prebbie from Ghana. He will take the lead in organizing the WSFII conference and workshops 2007!

On the right-hand picture, Kafui is enjoying Voice over IP directly from computer to computer over the experimental link, using SJPhone software.

After the success of the test, we move back to the classroom and debrief the two groups.

Before we close the Workshops, we evaluate the results for improving the following workshops.

A long series of interventions follow from the group to thank the organizers of both the conference as well as the workshops for their excellent work!

Well done!

After packing and the last night in the guesthouse, I the driver for bringing me to Delhi Airport picks me up at 05:00 to ensure that no surprises on the road let me lose my connection with the flight home.
