Wednesday, November 1, 2006, Dharamsala. (Day 7 of the workshops)

Today is the antenna building day at the workshop.

The plan is to deploy one antenna at McLeod Ganj, 2 km from the classroom, and try each antenna built by the students with this antenna.

I will not see it because I take an other day off to go sightseeing..

The goal is to visit Norbulingka. I ask a taxi driver what it would cost. He comes back with a proposal that is below the rate Phuntsok had given, because the rate he gave was without the waiting time of two hours.

The entrance of Norbulingka is very nice. Behind the gate, it is very quit. I make a short video of the cricket-concert.

I visit the museum with some 15 displays of all kind of situations, like the march of high monks with their music instruments followed by cavalry after they have had a prayer ceremony at the Potala.

In an other part tangka painters are working. Around the wall are the actual painters, in the middle students are making pencil drawings of the deities. One tangka takes 4-5 months to make. The details are striking and they are all beautiful.

On the premise of the temple, I saw the little shrine with prayer flags and khata's and some nice flowers.

I could not miss an other infrastructure item: a high-voltage fuse. You can hardly see the thin wire. It will give a nice flame when the wire is blown-off.

After a lunch in the temple café, I return to the taxi, but have to wait some time, because the taxi drivers are in the middle of a card game that can not be ended......

When the driver finally comes, he takes me to an other temple, the Kamapa. Indeed a nice temple, guarded by a policeman with a gun.

Inside, I see a number of monks ready to start a 3 day effort to make a sand Mandala. A video camera tripod is ready for making a documentary.
